firebricks

Fire Brick, also known as Refractory Brick, is a block of refractory ceramic material. It is widely used in lining furnaces, kilns, fireboxes, and fireplaces. It is light and whitish in color. Fire Brick is capable of withstanding high temperature and has low thermal conductivity for greater energy efficiency. Fire Brick is known for its applications with extreme mechanical, chemical, or thermal stresses. It is used in the interior of wood-fired kiln or a furnace that is subjected to wood abrasion, fluxing from ash or slag and high temperatures. This heavy and dense firebrick has the right refractory properties for building cooking chamber in wood fired ovens and all kinds of linings of fire boxes and wood heaters. It has low porosity and it will last long on various re-heating.

Uses Of Fire Brick

  • Kilns:

Fire Brick is widely used in pottery kilns. For proper vitrification of the clay and to make it non-porous, these kilns require very high temperatures. So, Fire Brick is used as wither the whole structure of kiln or for its inner layer, where the heat is maximum. Soft Fire Brick is used for blocking the doors of kiln at the time of firing. It offers easily-removed insulation for the door of kiln.

  • Fireplaces

Fire Bricks are often employed in the inner fire box of the fireplace for insulation against heat damage to surrounding walls. They keep the outer fire place and mantle cool. Fire Bricks with alumina content of around 25% are suitable for fireplaces.

  • Wood Fired Ovens

Traditional pizza ovens are wood-fired ovens and their inner construction around the chamber is made with Fire Bricks. They are capable of withstanding thermal cycling, and thus are used in cooking floor and dome / roof of the ovens. Using Fire Bricks increases the life of the oven as these bricks can easily tolerate the average 900 degrees Fahrenheit of oven.
